After the CONTRACT DRAWINGS are issued for BID, the construction administration services begin with review of the shop drawings submitted by the various subcontractors/suppliers (such as concrete, steel, timber, light gauge, etc.). Each major component of the structural framing system usually has a full review of the supplier "erection placement" and shop fabrication drawings- to verify that they conform to the structural design intent prior to fabrication and installation.
Sometimes during the shop drawing phase and the installation phase -- additional information is needed and requested by the supplier-installers, to clarify specific design issues that are found AFTER the construction documents are issued. These RFI's (Request for Information) submittal are reviewed and answered as needed - to keep the project on track and on schedule.
One of the last components of service in a project is the "Field Reviews and Site Meetings". These vary in quantity and documentation - depending on the project size and complexity. When needed - "Field Reports" are issued during the installation phase- to advise the client and contractors of our findings during our site visits.
